Fretted instruments

Fretted instruments are fitted with frets and the strings are plucked. The player presses his or her finger against a fret to shorten the length of vibrating string.

This family includes the guitar, lyre, harp, lute, balalaika, zither, mandolin, banjo, ukulele and the sitar, originating in India.


" And the king made of the almug trees pillars for the house of the LORD, and for the king's house,
harps also and psalteries for singers" (1 Kings, chapter 10:12)
